During my 15-year career in a large dental laboratory where all I knew was mass-produced assembly line dentures, I was given a golden opportunity. I was going to the Swissedent Foundation in Glendale California, taking an advanced denture course. Dr. John Frush, a denture specialist, owned and operated a clinic and school teaching a special technique he studied in Switzerland in the 1950s.

This training changed my life forever. I learned to provide a service that every single denture wearer deserves to have. I used imported, hand-sculpted teeth. Distinctly male and female shapes and sizes. Beautiful shades and so many to choose from. I fit the teeth to each individual patient. I took before-and-after photos so the patients could see the improvements. Gone was the denture look. No one had to settle for dull, lifeless teeth. Patients often looked 10 years younger and had a say in how they looked. I was changing these patients' lives in a positive and lasting way.

The results I saw during the course were so compelling, I knew I would do whatever it took to open my own office and provide this service. Dr. Frush gave me permission to call my office Swiss® Denture Center. This was an honor as he had never allowed this name to be used by anyone. To this day, no one else has the legal right to use this registered trademark name.

Soon after I opened my office, I was on AM Northwest. Channel 6 News at Noon came out and did a live interview. Paula Gunnes from Channel 2 came to my office, interviewed several patients and produced a story. The Oregonian has written two different articles on my special techniques. Oregon Magazine also wrote about Swiss Denture Center. Patients came to me from all over Oregon plus 12 states.

Today – you the patient have a choice even though the majority of dentures are still mass-produced. My commitment is to continue to provide this extraordinary denture care for my patients.
